Double Whammy of Increased GST and No Subsidy

Spokesperson: Prof. Gourav Vallabh: He said that this is the last month as far as our financial year is concerned. Today on the 1st day of March, exactly 7 days before Holi, the Modi Government has given us a gift that now gas cylinders across the country for domestic use are going to be above Rs. 1,100 per cylinder and commercial gas cylinders will be above Rs. 2,100 per cylinder. Why did it happen? Why is the gas cylinder, which was under Rs. 500 per cylinder before 2014, above Rs. 1,100 now? The reason lies in these facts.

The fact of the matter is that from the year 2004-2005 to the year 2013-2014, in other words the 10 years of UPA, the total subsidy on LPG gas cylinders for domestic use was Rs. 2,14,474 crores which was given by the government of India so that the LPG gas cylinder price does not move above Rs. 500 and you will be surprised to know that the same subsidy in the last 9 years of Modi government is Rs. 36,598 crores and the story doesn’t end here.

You are imposing GST also. On the LPG gas cylinder for domestic use, the government of India has imposed a GST rate of 5 per cent and for commercial gas cylinder, the GST rate is 18 per cent. After that if you ask a question to the Modi government, they will say CBI, ED, go and arrest him…. This is not the economic governance model of any democratic government. Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
