Port Blair: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded on February 03, 2022, for construction of an approach road for Baratang Helipad so that it becomes easily accessible to public, ambulances and Fire Tenders.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, he mentioned that due to lack of an approach road, neither ambulances nor Fire Tenders can enter the helipad area. He added that on many occasions in the past, patients were carried by public on their shoulder uptoBaratang Helipad from main road due to lack of an approach road. He also requested to get a shed for passengers constructed here. The MP further said that Baratang is one of the most popular Tourist destinations and if this helipad becomes operational in Baratang Island, it will give a further boost to the Tourism sector of Baratang Island. He also pointed out that this will help in evacuating emergency medical cases from Baratang Island safely and will improve connectivity for Middle Andaman for future.
