Congress President message on 74th Independence Day

Dear Countrymen,

Wish you all a very

Happy 74th Independence Day

The fame of our India is not only due to democratic values and pluralism of different languages, religions and communities all over the world, but India is also known to face adverse situations with solidarity.

Today, as the whole world is struggling with the great catastrophe of the corona epidemic, India needs to unite and set an example to defeat this epidemic and I can say, with full confidence, that together we will all come out of the state of this epidemic and serious economic crisis.

Friends, we have tested our democratic values from time-to-time in the past 74 years of independence and have continuously matured it. Today, it seems that the government is standing against the democratic system, the constitutional values and the established traditions. This is also the testing time for Indian democracy.

Today, 60 days of martyrdom of Colonel Santosh Babu and 20 of our jawans in Galwan Valley, have also passed. I also remember them and salute their bravery and request the government to remember their valor and give them due respect. To protect the Motherland of India and thwart Chinese incursion will be the biggest tribute paid to her.

Today every countryman needs to take a peek into his conscience and think what does freedom mean? Is there any freedom in the country today to write, to speak, to ask questions, to disagree, to have views, to seek accountability? As a responsible opposition, it is our responsibility to make every effort and struggle to keep India’s democratic independence intact.

I once again wish all the countrymen a Happy Independence Day of India and wish for a bright democratic future of India.

Jai Hind!
