CONGRESS DElEGATION MEET WITH PRIME MINISTER ON FARMER’S ISSUE

CONGRESS DElEGATION MEET WITH PRIME MINISTER ON FARMER’S ISSUE

New Delhi:  The Congress party delegation met Prime Minister Modi on the last day of the session to hand over a list of demands Congress Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi had collected from the farmers.

Shri Rahul Gandhi had promised farmers in Uttar Pradesh during his yatra, that he would personally reach their demands to the PM.

The memorandum stated that “The door-to-door outreach in both the states has led to a collection of 2 Crore Maangpatras from Uttar Pradesh and 30 Lakh Maangpatras from Punjab, where almost all the farmers have stated that their outstanding loans be waived.

We consider our duty to present the Maangpatras to you with a request to intervene and provide urgent relief to the indebted farmers as the Government has adequate resources and the Public Sector Banks are flush with funds after the recent decision on demonetisation. It is requested that the funds now available to the Government are spent to waive farmers loans including the loans that they owe to the Cooperative Banks and other financial institutions.

We urge you to do so to alleviate the suffering of the Indian Farmers by waving of farmers’ loans as lacs of crores of Rupees have been deposited with the banks as reported by both the RBI and the Government.

Shri Rahul Gandhi led the delegation comprised of Senior leaders like Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha  Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad and Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Anand Sharma, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Capt Amrinder Singh. Shri Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Shri Deepender Hooda, Shri Raj Babbar, Shri Pramod Tiwari, Smt. Rajni Patil, Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu and Shri P.L. Punia and others.
