Smt. Sonia Gandhi lambasting Modi
During her two-day visit to her parliamentary constituency, Raebareli, the Congress Party President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, lambasted the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for celebrating its second anniversary in power. Sonia Gandhi also slammed the Modi government while speaking to reporters during her Raebareli tour by saying: “I’ve never seen anything like this, Modiji is a PM not a Shahenshah (Emperor). The Congress President bemoaned: “There is so much poverty in the country, there is drought and farmers are in pain. At these times, making a “show” of celebration is not appropriate.”
Congress President began her twoday’s visit to Raebareli on May 31 and reached the Fursatganj airport in the morning. Smt. Sonia Gandhi went straight to participate in the board meeting of the Dalmau Nagar panchayat, and assured to get a Kendriya Vidyalay and a gas agency to be opened there. The Congress President later inaugurated the newly-constructed Nagar Panchayat’s building, built with the amount of around Rs 30 lakhs. While returning from Dalmau, Shrimati Sonia Gandhi even partook the Prasad being distributed on the occasion of Bade Mangal (Big Tuesday) in the way at the Ghurwara kesba.
The Congress President also laid the foundation and unveiled 52 projects be started with the investment of Rs 1.52 crore funded from the MP’s development fund and the Centre’s Gram Sadak Yojana Scheme. Smt. Sonia Gandhi later met with the district party leaders and former MLAs at Bhuemau guest house and discussed the development works going on in the area. The Congress President did not forget to meet personally and congratulate the students, for bringing pride to the district, by topping in class 10th of the UP Examination Board like Soumya Patel, Ikara and Umarah Mehmud from Wibgyor Public School Inter college. The second day of Smt. Sonia Gandhi’s tour started with Janta Darshan in which a large number of people participated and apprised her of the problems related to the area as well as the organization.
She inaugurated newly built Mahatma Gandhi Sabhagar built from the MP’s development fund. In the Sabhagar a meeting was held with district vigilance and monitoring committee in which quality of PMSY roads, and problems of farmers affected by hailstorm were discussed. The condemnation proposal against changing the name of Indira Awaas and granting RO plant to MLA were prominent points of the meeting.
Congress President went to the houses of victims families to convey her condolences on the death of Congress leader Pramod Tripathi’s father and that of the wife of Lalganj Block pramukh. Later Smt. Sonia Gandhi reached Fursatganj airport and left for Delhi on June 1st.
