“Don’t kill poor patients by making medication costlier”

Mulund: Congress workers from Mumbai (in Mulund), dressed up as patients & carrying huge symbolic replicas of medicines protested against the BJP led Central Government for proposing to levy import & excise duty on 76 Life Saving
Essential Drugs which will make treatment of certain serious ailments costlier for the common man. They further demanded withdrawal of the said notification.

The Modi government has recently withdrawn Import Duty waiver & further Imposed Excise Duty on 76 Life Saving Essential Drugs thereby making saving lives costlier by approximately 22%. The move will literally make embracing death a cheaper alternative from 1st April, 2016 onwards, celebrated as an all fools day worldwide, thus aptly indicating that the common man has been made fool by the central government after luring them with assurances of affordable healthcare.

Protest was led by Rajesh Ingle General Secretary of Mumbai North east District Congress along with Kailash Patil, Baburam Choudhary, Anil Sawant, Madhukar Mhatre, Prakash Indulkar, Shekhar Pardeshi, Senthil Tevar, Dharmesh Soni, Sanjay Jha, Vithal Satpute, Dilip Patil, Santosh Sonawane, Bhaskar Takalkar, Govind Gohil, Amrish Shah, Chetan Jadhav, Sunil Patil, Ganesh Nikam, Panchanand Mishra, Anil Singh, Jitendra Sharma and other Congress activists.
