Empower Children of Valmiki Samaj through Eduction: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Inaugurating the Valmiki Jayanti Shobha Yatra at the Red Fort ground here on 27th October, 2015, Congress Vice-President Shri Rahul Gandhi said that the Valmiki Samaj should empower themselves through education and create a definite role for themselves in society, and involve themselves in various vocations, become pilots and businessmen. He said India was an amalgamation of all faiths and communities, and everyone should live in an atmosphere of peace and co-operation. 

Shri Rahul Gandhi was addressing thousands of people from the Valmiki Samaj at the Red Fort ground after inaugurating the Valmiki Jayanthi Shobha Yatra, held under the aegis of Valmiki Choudhary Sarpanch Committee, Delhi Pradesh and Maharishi Valmiki Janmotsav Committee, Delhi Pradesh. DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken was a special guest. The programme was held under the leadership of the patron of these committees, ex-MLA Jaikishan. Prominent others present at the Valmiki Jayanti Shobha Yatra were committee president Sanjay Atwal, Ch. Durgadas Pandit, Ch. Ramkishan Tank, Sanjeev Jawa, Sanjay Tank, Sudhir Choudhary, Shri Deepender Hudda, MP, ex- MP Sajjan Kumar, Shri Jagdish Tytler, Smt. Sharmistha Mukherjee, ex-MLAs Shri Arvinder Singh, Haroon Yusuf, Veer Singh Dhingan, Rajesh Lilothia, Charan Singh Kandera, Malaram Gangwal, Amrish Singh Gautam, Kiran Walia and Surender Kumar. 

Shri Rahul Gandhi said Valmiki Ji wrote the Ramayana to tell the world about the story of Bhagwan Ram. He said whenever he sees the photo of Valmiki Ji, he can spot a pen in his hand, and he hoped that the boys and girls from the Valmiki Samaj should empower themselves through education so that they also hold pens in their hands, and make great strides in life, and get many options in their life to progress by dreaming high. Shri Rahul Gandhi said the thinking of the Congress party is that everyone should live in peaceful co-existence, and make special efforts to uplift the suppressed people. 

Shri Rahul Gandhi said he was ready at all times to help the people of the Valmiki Samaj, and whenever the leaders of the community approach him with their problems, I try my best to solve them. He said the people of Valmiki Samaj works like soldiers and they should get enough opportunities so that they can make strides in different walks of life, and move ahead. Shri Ajay Maken, addressing thousands of people from the Valmiki Samaj, said it was a heartening sight to see Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji inaugurating the Valmiki Jayanthi Shobha Yatra. Shri Maken said Valmiki Ji gave us Ramayan and told the story of Maryada Purush Shri Ram. He said Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji has always fought the causes of the Valmiki Samaj with shoulder to shoulder from the people of the committee, even by sitting on dharna under searing heat of 45 degrees C. Shri Ajay Maken said whenever the people of the Valmiki Samaj go to meet Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji, he patiently listens to their problems, and finds solutions to them. 

He said Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji had inaugurated the Valmiki Jayanthi Shobha Yatra in 1983, and now Shri Rahul Gandhi has come to inaugurate the Shobha Yatra, which was a very happy augury for us all. Organiser of the Shobha Yatra and ex-MLA Jaikishan thanked Shri Rahul Gandhi and Shri Ajay Maken for participating in the Valmiki Jayanthi Shobha Yatra. He said though the Valmiki Jayanthi Shobha Yatra is held every year, this time it was a special occasion as after Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji, the Shobha Yatra was inguaruated by Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji. 

He said the Valmiki Samaj is being put to all kinds of difficulties now, and the safai karamcharis of the MCD had to resort to dharna to get their wages and arrears. Shri Jaikishan said the Delhi and Central Governments were not doing anything for the Valmiki Samaj, and instead whatever facilities they were getting were being taken away by those parties who have come to power with the votes of the people of the Valmiki Samaj.
