Spokesperson: Jairam Ramesh: He said that you know that since the last eight days there is panic all over the country, the issue is just one, the problem is just one and that is of demonetization. Much has been said, much has been written about, there was even a debate in the Rajya Sabha for a day, but I want to bring out 4 to 5 points that did not come out in the debate. I feel these issues are important and in relation to the historic decision of the Prime Minister, it becomes important that
he should speak something about it.
That on 26th May, 2012, the then Finance Minister, now the President of India, presented a White Paper on Black Money in the Lok Sabha. Secondly, the Prime Minister and Finance Minister are repeatedly saying that our government has started an aggressive attack on Black Money and the Congress-led UPA government did not do anything. In the 21/2 year’s rule of Narendra Modi, one lakh 25 thousand crore has be brought out, the Finance Minister says this and he has formally repeated it. There is no difference of opinion on this because the Finance Minister is a responsible person. But why don’t you tell the country that after the White Letter in 2013-2014, in these two years how much Black Money was brought out, why are the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister not speaking about it? You will be astonished that in the last two years of UPA government one lakh 31 thousand crore Black Money was brought out. Thursday, 17th November, 2016.
