Women ’s Day

Spokesperson: Ms. Priyanka Chaturvedi: She wished the media a very happy Women’s Day on behalf of the Congress Party and for all the women of the country- Congress Party is totally committed to ensure that women have equal access, equal opportunities and equal pay parity as well.

Smt. Priyanka said that the sufferers of the Bhopal gas tragedy whowant to claim compensation will have to give their Aadhar Card. So,we want to ask the Prime Minister who used to talk of social welfareschemes, you talk of women nourishment, you say our children are our future and we have to give attention to them, so, what is it thatthrough the Aadhar Card there is an effort to finish these projectswhich benefit them. You make a boundary that whosoever has anAadhar Card will get compensation. This is a very tragic situationfor the country. It is our appeal to the Prime Minister that he shouldnot do this, whether it is giving compensation to the gas tragedysufferers or giving mid day meal to the children.

We have heard that women who want gas connection will haveto provide Aadhar Card otherwise women will not get clean gascylinder. Then, those programmes which influence the women, which influence the children, those affected by some kind of tragedythey should not be bound by the restriction of Aadhar Card, thisis a one-sided decision to finish welfare programmes by makingAadhar Card as the base.
