The Prime Minister should uphold the dignity of his office: Pawan Khera
Congress leader Pawan Khera talked about PM Narendra Modi’s irresponsible statements made during the elections in Gujarat last year. As elections draw closer, the Prime Minister forgets the dignity of his post and says things that do not behoove of a PM. The Prime Minister should remember that he is the Prime Minister of a country that is the biggest democracy in the world. No other Prime Minister has spoken in such a way. If a Prime Minister has to crush the spirit of a country to win an election, then has he really been successful?
We have seen examples of this behaviour in all elections. In Uttar Pradesh, he spoke aboutshamshaan ghaats and kabristaans. In Gujarat, he forgot to even mention progress or development as a poll promise and instead talked about Pakistan. He raised fingers at former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and others accusing them of colluding with Pakistan to influence the election in Gujarat.
Dr. Manmohan Singh gave a befitting reply, he said that how could Narendra Modi make such insinuating accusations and then sit quietly instead of starting investigations of registering FIRs on such a grave matter of national security. He asked what the sources were. He reminded Mr. Modi that he was the Prime Minister of India. Every speech he made was heard not only around the country but also by people around the world. In reply to an RTI inquiring about the source of the PM's accusations, his office wrote: “Information sought does not form part of records held by this office."
